I met Pete through my husband, he rented an apartment to us and our daughter. He quickly became family and was there for holidays, birthday parties and anything our daughter accomplished. When I noticed he was getting sick I was so scared and I wish I and my family had more time with him. The last 5 years I rented from him were the best I could ever ask for he was understanding, compassionate, and did everything he could to help us out. We love you Pete and we will miss you more then words can express.

He will be missed by many. Brought encouragement and the value of service, into many of our lives.
Thanks to him, I know the names of trees, and shrubs... flowers and the American Chesnut, at Winter #2... He was the best, of us...

When I was in the Day Treatment program through the Children's Home he was a teacher's aide in my class. Very few people in school ever dedicated the amount of time, effort, and care he did for kids like us. He did his level best to understand each and every one of us, show us compassion in our lowest moments. Showed kindness even in the face of the worst meltdowns from some very broken kids.
He and my father ended up starting at BOCES I believe the same year or just one year apart. I still remember how excited he was to see me one day when I was visiting my dad's class and how he still remembered the weird quiet kid he used to give crossword puzzles out of the daily paper. From that day forward, a couple times a year, my dad would mention that he had asked how I was doing. It's a small gesture but it meant a lot.
I was incredibly depressed when I heard the news that his health had taken a bad turn. Now I am heartbroken to hear of his passing. There are very few people in the world who can honestly say they truly gave more than they took from the world but he was one of them. So here's to you, Mr. Picciano. Know that you definitely left a positive mark on the world and you will be deeply missed.
