Peter Joseph Sanderson

Peter Joseph Sanderson, 93, passed away on May 16, 2025 at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary, North Carolina. Pete was born in Niagara Falls, Canada and grew up in Oneida, New York. He was a graduate of Oneida High School and the College of Holy Cross. Pete served his country in the U.S. Army and was employed by Oneida Limited Silversmiths for over thirty years. He will be remembered most for his deep love of singing, music, and sports, his warm and upbeat personality, and his devotion to his first wife, Greta, his second wife, Elizabeth ("BJ"), his family, and his Catholic faith. Pete is survived by brother Mike Sanderson and sister-in-law Linda Sanderson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Jean Sanderson of Cary, North Carolina, children Patrick Sanderson of Columbus, Ohio and spouse Marie Sanderson of Syosset, New York, Margaret Sanderson Lawson of Dallas, Texas, Emily Sanderson and spouse Orie Urami of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren James Sanderson, Ryan Sanderson and spouse Kristin Powers Sanderson, Catherine Sanderson and spouse David Gigante, Travis Lawson and spouse Abby Lawson, Terra Lawson, Nicholas Lawson, and Jacob Lawson; great-grandchildren Ellie Lawson, Suede Lawson, Nora Lawson, Eleni Sanderson and Nikolaos Sanderson. Pete is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by first wife Greta Hartwig Sanderson; second wife Elizabeth ("BJ") Cunanan Sanderson; brothers Robert Sanderson and Dudley Sanderson; sister Virginia Sanderson Lyons; sister-in-law Barbara Helmer Sanderson, brother-in-law Gerald Lyons, and son-in-law Alan Faulkner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, NC, with a Eulogy to begin at 10:45 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association
