Peter C Scaramuzzo

Reverend Peter C. Scaramuzzo, of Westerly, RI passed away at L&M Hospital in New London, CT on Friday, July 29, 2022. He was a beloved servant of the Lord for over 60 years and was 82.

Born in Yonkers, New York, he was the son of the late Anthony and Julia Scaramuzzo.

Fr. Peter was a graduate of Mount Saint Michael Academy, Bronx, NY and St. Joseph Seminary, Yonkers, NY. He served the Archdiocese of New York at several parishes, the last being St. Anthony of Padua, West Harrison, NY for twenty years. Fr. Peter was also a past Chaplain of the West Harrison, Fire Dept. Every summer for 60yrs, and as a Westerly resident, he often lent a hand filling in at St. Clare Church in Westerly, RI as well as Immaculate Conception Church and St. Pius X.
Fr. Peter was an avid Ham Radio operator (WA2BPX).

He was the beloved brother of Vincent & Susan Scaramuzzo of Westerly, RI, Anthony Scaramuzzo of Citrus Springs, FL, John & Sandra Scaramuzzo of Scarsdale, NY, Louis Scaramuzzo of Eastchester, NY, Thomas (deceased) & Debbie Scaramuzzo of Port Chester, NY; and beloved uncle to 9 nieces and nephews, 5 great nieces and nephews – "and countless shrimpalonies everywhere".

Services in NY are as follows: Fr. Peter will lie in state at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 85 Harrison Street, West Harrison, NY on Wednesday 8/3 from 4pm-7:30pm, immediately by a Mass of The Resurrection at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday in the church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Yonkers, NY.
