Peter Stone Obituary

Peter Stone
Born: November 9, 1940 in Vincennes, IN
Died: January 16, 2026 in Geneva, IL
V. Peter Stone, known to many as Pete, was 85-year-old when he passed away on January 16th, 2026, in Geneva, Illinois. Born in Vincennes, Indiana, to Virgil and Faye Stone, Pete shared nearly six decades of marriage with his wife, Susan (Sue) Ann Thomas, whom he married in July 1966. Pete received BA and MBA degrees from Southern Illinois University.
During the early stages of his career, Pete and his family experienced frequent relocations, ultimately spending 15 years in Hinsdale, Illinois, where his children attended elementary, junior high and high school. Once retired Pete and Sue eventually settled in Boulder, Colorado, where their son continues to reside.
Tennis held a special place in Pete's life, second only to his family. He dedicated his life to playing, teaching and watching tennis. In retirement he taught tennis at two different high schools and frequently traveled to attend tournaments. Regardless of whether it was high school, college or the prestigious Wimbledon tournament he could watch for hours.
Wanting to be closer to their grandchildren, they relocated to Geneva, Illinois, in 2021. This move was motivated by the fact that their daughter resides nearby in Clarendon Hills, Illinois.
Pete is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Nate and Christine; and his grandchildren, Luke and Alex.

Yesterday

To the family: I´m so sorry for your loss. Pete was my brother in law, my husband´s younger brother. I was glad to have spoken to him last summer, he spoke about his grandsons, Chrissy, and Nate and Sue. He loved his family and tennis. He will be missed.
