Peter Thyssen Obituary

Published by South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery - Pearland on Jun. 25, 2014.
Peter Andersen Thyssen departed this world on the evening of Wednesday 25, June 2014. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Thyssen, and their two children, Thomas and Therese. Peter is also survived by his parents, Ken and Suzy Thyssen, and his brothers, Dane and Olen Thyssen. Peter was born on December 28th, 1981, in Pasadena, Texas. He met his future wife, Elizabeth Ann Early at the Clear Lake Fencing Club during middle school. He graduated with LaPorte High School's class of 1999. Peter married his childhood sweetheart on July 12, 2003 in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2010, they welcomed their son, Thomas George, into the world. He was joined by a baby sister, Therese Marie, in 2011. Peter was a loving husband and devoted father whose first thought was always of his family. Peter's love of music led him to play in several bands as well as work in the music industry. Peter was a talented guitarist and composer. Sometimes he could convince Ann to sing with him. Ann and Pete also shared an interest in medicine and Peter became a paramedic. From his childhood exploits with his brothers and parents' love of the outdoors, Peter grew to be very adventurous. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Ann, backpacking, being active and healthy, and tackling adventure races with family and friends. He backpacked through several mountain ranges in Texas, hiked the Grand Canyon, and most recently summited a peak in Cascades National Park. Peter was a central figure in our family. He was a clear thinker who always volunteered his time to others, and with no hesitation put others before himself. His warm smile could put anyone at ease. Peter taught others around him how to be a better person just by being himself. In 2009, Peter was baptized, confirmed and entered into the communion of the Roman Catholic Church at the Great Easter Vigil. Together with his family, faith was the central pillar of Peter's life. Peter was active in St. Theresa's RCIA program. He was an avid reader and was just beginning a course of study to earn a Master's degree in Catholic Theology. Peter's Memorial Service will be held at South Park Funeral Home this Thursday, July 3rd, from 4-8 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday the 5th at the Thyssen's parish, St. Theresa's Church in Sugar Land. I never knew this young man, but was an art student of Mrs. Thyssen's in the late '70s. I'm so sorry to hear of the family's loss and will most definitely keep you all on my prayers. God bless you all.
