PETER B. VELASCO
Age 74, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Doting husband of the late Marlene Velasco; loving step-father of Rachel E. Hughes; beloved brother of Andres Velasco, Generoso “Geno” Velasco (Melanie), and Genaro Velasco (Kristin); son of the late Andres and Virginia (Bulan) Velasco. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Peter proudly served in the United States Army. As part of the army he was an Engine & Power train mechanic. He served both at home & abroad in Germany & Korea. After being honorably discharged Peter obtained his nursing degree & attended bible college. He was a Captain of the Salvation Army Corps Church (Western & Eastern Territories). Peter was always willing to help people and worked for several years as a registered nurse. He loved motorcycles, owning several and recently working at Cernics Cycle World motorcycle shop. Peter loved music and was a self taught piano player and even composed a few of his own songs.
All are welcome Friday, December 6, 2024 from 4-6 PM, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, 412-563-2800, where his memorial service will take place at 6 PM. Interment will be private to the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Association of America or Breast Cancer Foundation.
