Peter G. Vlaming

Peter G. Vlaming, 55, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born on August 3, 1969, in Bordentown, New Jersey to Raymond J. Vlaming Jr. and Mary (Plumley) Vlaming. After his mother passed away, at age 7, he and his brother Paul were raised by his father and stepmother, Myrna Lee (DeVries) Vlaming, in Hanover Park, IL.
Peter graduated from Lake Park High School in 1988, where he met his future wife of 32 years, Mary Verbena. Peter and Mary wed on August 30, 1992, at St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois.
He attended Universal Technical Institute trade school, graduating in 1989. His career as a Chrysler Master Mechanic spanned over 35 years. He had a passion for mentoring apprentices entering the field, including his oldest son, Anthony. He loved everything to do with cars and motorcycles. When he was not working on automobiles, Peter enjoyed spending time with his children and watching his granddaughter grow and learn. His children and granddaughter were his pride and joy. His hobbies included landscaping and gardening. Most of all, he loved being with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Peter is survived by his children, Anthony, Angela, and Austin; his granddaughter, Mariela; his brother, Paul (Laura) Vlaming; his stepsiblings, Kelli (Joe) Rusciano, and Michael (Susan) Zmich; his mother and father-in-law, Pietro and Angela Verbena; his brother-in-law, Steven (Marisa) Verbena; and several nieces and nephews.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with expenses. Please make donations payable to Maria "Mary" Vlaming.
