Obituary of Peter Bernard Wesseling
Peter Bernard Wesseling, 84, went to his heavenly home Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica. Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2025 at 1:00, with funeral service starting at 3:00 pm, at Aurora Reformed Church in Aurora Center. Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers.
Pete was born March 15, 1941 to Harold and Gertrude Wesseling at the farm near Aurora Center, SD. He grew up in Aurora Center and attended country school through eighth grade, then worked on his parent's farm.
Pete was united in marriage to Carol Iedema on March 30, 1962 in the parsonage of the First Reformed Church in Platte. The couple moved to a home in Aurora Center. Pete was a carpenter with his father doing different jobs and building redwood tanks. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who had many talents with carpentry, plumbing and machining. He loved watching western movies and making replicas of the old western main street buildings, horse drawn wagons and wooden toys for the grandchildren. He enjoyed making canons for many of the family members who served in the military. He loved the challenge of fixing things that weren't working.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Carol of Parkston; 6 children: Evelyn (Calvin) Spaans of Corsica, Todd (Cindy) Wesseling of Sioux Falls, Lisa (Terry) Hansum of Sioux Falls, Terry (Christine) Wesseling of Mt. Vernon, Carolyn (Joel) Lau of Armour, LeRay (Eshton) Wesseling of Worthing and 25 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Wesseling; parents, Harold and Gertrude Wesseling; mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Cornelius Iedema; Great granddaughter, Addalyn Ymker.
