Pastor Petr Gogan was born in Ivatsevichy, Belarus on 5/26/1959 to Ivan and Sofia Gogan. He married the love of his life, Lyudmila, on 09/11/1982. Together they had 6 children. While living in Belarus, Petr worked as an agronomist. After immigrating to the U.S.A., he worked in construction and as a mechanic. They lived in Pennsylvania until August of 2014, and then the family moved to
Chariton, IA. Petr loved being outdoors, gardening, taking care of his livestock, and his bees.
Petr always radiated joy to those around him. He was always smiling, singing worship songs, and just simply being happy. He always tried to uplift and encourage others. He served as a pastor for 27 years, and he dedicated his entire life to ministry. He loved the church and with God's help he took care of the people in it. Petr was a prayer warrior. He spent most of his time studying the Word and praying on his knees to the Lord. Most of the time he could be found in his office writing a sermon or outside enjoying God's beautiful nature. He had an immense love for his family. Petr cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren deeply. Most importantly, Petr believed in Jesus as his Lord and Savior and loved Him with his whole heart. He will be dearly missed here on earth, but we rejoice and take comfort knowing that he entered into the arms of his Savior where every tear is wiped away and where death will be no more.
Petr was preceded in death by his father Ivan, mother Sofia, sisters Lyubov and Nadezhda, and brother Leonid.
Petr is survived by his wife, Lyudmila, and children: Ivan Gogan, Yelena McHenry, Tatyana (Ruslan) Fedarinenko, Ella (Moisey) Kopytko, Milana Gogan, and Nina Gogan. He is survived by his grandchildren Arsenius, Artem, Elias, Micah, Adella, Jalon, Avenir, Aviel, Sofia, Azariah, Evangeline, and Adeline. He is also survived by his sister Nina, and brothers Ivan and Aleksandr; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
2 Timothy: 7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing."
