It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and pappou, Petros George Vlasidis, devoted husband for 42 years to the late Poppy Vlasidis. Petros entered eternal rest at the age of 82 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was welcomed into heaven, surrounded by God's love and grace.
Petros was born on February 18, 1943, in Komotini, Greece, to his parents, Giorgios and Paraskevi Vlasidis. In 1969, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of opportunity, carrying with him the warmth, resilience, and rich traditions of his homeland. He built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. His values defined him until the very end.
Throughout his life in the United States, Petros lived with his wife and children in Flushing, New York, later moving to Paramus, New Jersey, and retiring to Lutz, Florida. With unwavering determination and a strong work ethic, he established his own painting and contracting business, earning the respect and trust of countless customers through his honesty, craftsmanship, and pride.
A devoted family man, Petros found his greatest joy in his loved ones. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and led by example, instilling humility, perseverance, kindness, and integrity in all who knew him. Especially dear to his heart was his lifelong love for his Greek Orthodox Faith and his beloved Greek Soccer Team, AEK, which he followed with passion and pride throughout his life. Through his presence, wisdom, and gentle strength, he left a lasting mark on generations.
Petros is survived by his loving children: George Vlasidis, Nick Vlasidis (Annette), and Patricia Moraitakis and her husband Markos, who brought him immense pride and joy. He was a cherished and devoted pappou to his treasured grandchildren, whom he adored: Petro Vlasidis (17), Eleni Moraitakis (17), Dimitri Vlasidis (16), Kalliopi Moraitakis (14), and Efstratios Moraitakis (8).
He is also survived by his sister Mairi Tzoura; sister-in-law Pitsa Vlasidou; brother-in-law Anastasios Venizelos; sister-in-law Yianna Binioris and her husband Chris; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family in both Greece and the United States.
Petros was predeceased by his brother Christos Vlasidis, brother-in-law Yiannis Tzouras, and sister-in-law Mary Anthis and her husband John.
His memory will live on through the stories shared, the values he instilled, and the love that continues to surround his family.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing, Saturday, January 31, 2026, 10am -11am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 409 S. Coachman Road, Clearwater, FL 33765 followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. Interment Curlew Hills Memory Gardens - Hellenic, 1750 Curlew Road,
