Phil Roush Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory on Jan. 6, 2026.
Philip "Phil" Edward Roush, age 75, of Hillsboro passed away after a short illness on January 3, 2026 at his home. He was born the son of the late Gerald Roush and Nola "Tommye" Bratton Roush on August 14, 1950 in Hillsboro. Phil proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Phil was a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. He loved watching sports, but nothing brought him more pride than watching his grandchildren play. Even after his grandchildren were out of school, Phil continued to enjoy Friday nights and familiar faces, meeting friends at Hillsboro High School games, where he felt a strong sense of community. A lifelong farmer at heart, Phil was never happier than when he was on a tractor, working the land he loved. Farming was more than work to him - it was where he felt most at peace and connected to the earth and his God. Phil will be remembered for his steady presence and his love for family as a true family man. In addition to his mother, Phil is survived by his wife, Sharon (Perdue) Roush, whom he married on December 5, 1970; their children, Brad (Julie) Roush and Jobi (Dax) Bennington; grandchildren, Meghan (Peter) Giordano, Madison Roush, Hunter Williams, Autumn Williams, Gage Bennington, and Gunner Bennington; great grandchildren, Maverick Berry, Gemma Berry, Jaxon Giordano, Marcie Roush, and Casein Giordano; brother, Donovan Roush; and nephews, Donovan (Nancy) Roush and Eathan (Tiffany) Roush. In keeping with his wishes, Phil will be cremated. Memorial services with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 6:00pm at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until time of service at 6:00pm. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Phil Roush, please visit our floral store.
