Philip E. Field

Philip E. Field, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Iroquois Nursing Home.
He was a lifetime resident of LaFayette, NY and married his high school sweetheart, Mary. They raised their three children in the loving home they had built together. He was a devoted fan of his children's and grandchildren's games and events – never missing any.
Phil retired from Allied Chemical and went on to work for the Town of LaFayette. He was a devoted lifetime member and past Chief of the LaFayette Fire Department.
Phil is predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Field of Cardiff, his sister JoAnne Gormley, and his lifetime love Mary. Phil leaves behind his three children – Mark (Lynne) Field of Fulton, James (Melanie) Field of McGraw, and Mary Beth (Steven Scharoun) Cummings of Syracuse; five grandchildren – Matthew (Hunter) Field, Philip Field, Allison Field, Marley Cummings, and Abigal (Shawn) Vollaro; two great grandchildren – Marcus and Emily Field; Phil is also survived by his two brothers, Karl Field and Michael Field; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff of Iroquois Nursing Home. They treated him like family, and all called him "Uncle Phil."
Phil loved deer hunting with his sons, grandsons, friends and neighbors. Although he never brought home the big trophy, we know that the huge 10-point buck with the drop tines is waiting for him just over the hill.
Calling Hours are Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 1-4 PM at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, NY 13084.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the LaFayette Fire Department.
