August 6, 1935 – November 9, 2025

Dr. Philip H. Frazier passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on August 6, 1935, in Kingsport, Tennessee, and grew up in Kingsport and in Pekin, Illinois. He received a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1960, and bachelor's and master's degrees in divinity from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1965 and 1981. He earned a doctoral degree in ministry from Bethel University Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 2015, at the age of 80.

Philip was an ordained minister in the American Baptist Church and pastored churches in Tennessee, Illinois, and Minnesota. He worked as a licensed marriage and family counsellor for many years and taught classes at Bethel University in both the college and the seminary. In his ministry, counselling, and teaching, Philip emphasized learning to accept and communicate with others, meeting them as they are in the present moment, with mutual respect.

Philip enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, working in his woods and gardens, and spending time with his family.

Philip lost Leta, his partner of almost 67 years, on February 8th of this year. They are survived by their daughters, Linda Joy Frazier and Jennifer Sue Frazier Lally; their sons-in-law, Peter Ditmanson and Daniel Lally; and their grandchildren, EJ and Frazier Ditmanson.

Memorial donations can be made in their names to the Leta and Philip Frazier Communication Scholarship at Bethel University at https://www.bethel.edu/giving/give-online/ (select "Other" and designate the Leta and Philip Frazier Communication Scholarship).
