Philip Lefebvre (1940-2025)

Philip Lefebvre, 84, a resident of Lake Linden passed away August 28, 2025 with his family by his side at the Omega House in Houghton, MIafter a battle with cancer.

Phil was born December 1, 1940 in Laurium, MI. He is the son of Philip and Eleanor (Allwin) Lefebvre. He spent his younger years, along with the rest of his family, helping his great uncle Monsignor Raymond with daily life managing St. Joseph's Church in Lake Linden. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1958.

Upon graduating from High School Phil enlisted in the U.S. army where he served in Korea. After three years in the army he started his career with the Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCo). He went on to retire in 2000 after 38 years eventually becoming an officer within the company.

Phil married Joyce Keranen on August 8, 1964 at the St. Joseph Church in Hancock. They met at UPPCo and had 61 wonderful years devoted to each other and to helping family, friends and neighbors.

Phil had many hobbies. He loved cars, wood working and fixing just about anything. He loved to spend time in Bootjack enjoying the lake views and boating on the water and especially sharing the setting with friends and family. He was a wonderful story teller. He shared many stories (to make a long story short, as he would say) of his life relating to trips to see family in Canada with Monsignor Raymond, the nuns in Catholic School, high school days with Gary Mills, Clarence DeRoche and Rollie Spelich and many many stories of his army days.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents and sister Rose Helen.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of Lake Linden, son Marc (Cheryl) Lefebvre of Medina, Ohio, two grandsons Ben and Sam Lefebvre, brothers Urban of Marquette, Carl (Irene) of Dodgeville, Ray (Chris) of Knoxville, TN, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025 at Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Saint Joseph Church in Lake Linden. A luncheon will be served following the mass in the church basement, all are welcome.
