Philip John Lucia, 96, of Manlius, New York, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 9, 1928, in Tarrytown, New York, Philip was the son of Pasquale and Winifred Lucia. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School and went on to attend LaSalle College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on a basketball scholarship, earning a degree in accounting.
Philip proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, working in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He enjoyed a distinguished 37-year career in the insurance industry, including 28 years with Nationwide Insurance, where he held the role of Regional Vice President in both the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Syracuse, New York offices.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Philip was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann's Church in Manlius. He now joins his beloved wife, Ruth, in heaven, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, and who preceded him in death in December 2022.
In addition to his wife and parents, Philip was predeceased by his sister, Marie Pace; brother-in-law, John (Jack) Pace; son-in-law, Gary Bennett; and the family's cherished pup, Pudgy. He is survived by his children: Maria Lucia, Patrick Lucia (Jean Gaetano), and Wendy Lucia-Bennett; and by his four grandsons: Eric and Paul Billinson, and Philip and Bobby Bennett.
Philip will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him and be touched by his love, wisdom, and remarkable friendship. Those who wish to remember Philip's life can donate to their favorite charity in his name or show an act of kindness to someone in need.
In keeping with Philip's wishes, services will be private.
