Philip “Phil” M. Pochon, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024 at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, Robin Andres, his son, Christopher Pochon, and his two grandchildren, Lilly Pochon and Simon Tackett.

Born in Niagara Falls, New York on May 31, 1954, Phil touched the lives of many throughout his life with his intelligence, warmth, selflessness and kindness. He worked for more than 20 years as an Enterprise Information Architect at Covance Laboratories and later LabCorp in Indianapolis. For many years, Phil was a member of CDISC, where he led work to set international standards for clinical data through the CDISC Lab Model and the Biospecimens team. Phil was a life long Boston Red Sox fan.

As a resident of Zionsville for almost 35 years, Phil was active in the community as a soccer referee, referee assigner for the Zionsville Youth Soccer Association, and little league baseball and basketball coach for his son Christopher’s teams. He loved gardening, reading history books, cooking and engaging in lively and warm conversations with family and friends. He was also a dedicated patron and supporter of many local Zionsville businesses.

Phil was the son of Joan and Max Pochon and had three siblings: Susan Kilpatrick, Jeff Pochon and Mark Pochon. After the family moved from Niagara Falls to Kokomo, Indiana, Philip attended DePauw University, where he and his wife Robin met as members of the collegiate debate team. As teammates, Robin and Phil struck fear into the hearts of opposing debate teams with their incisive, perfectly-reasoned and researched arguments.

Phil later studied anthropology at Boston University before reconnecting with Robin. The two decided to marry, and shortly thereafter she agreed to accompany him on an anthropological expedition to Kenya. It was there, while living in a tent in the Cherang’any Hills on the western side of Kenya, that the couple gave birth to their first child, Felicity Pochon.

When they returned to Indiana, Phil taught anthropology at Earlam College where their second child, Christopher, was added to the family.

Phil dedicated his life to caring for his family. He was there for every graduation, sports event and major milestone, ready to provide support or advice wherever possible. His kindness and devotion were legendary. After their daughter Felicity passed away, Phil and Robin adopted her children, Simon and Lilly, and raised them as their own. Phil worked tirelessly to provide his children and grandchildren with every opportunity for success. He will be remembered as a warm, steady and loving figure who inspired others with his selflessness and generosity.

We invite you to celebrate Phil’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, January 11 at Flanner Buchanan Zionsville Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m., preceded by a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m.
