Philip Earhart Schmidt

Philip E. Schmidt passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the age of 86. An Army veteran and former business owner leaves behind a wife, 4 children, and 3 grandchildren. He and his wife, Marianna, just celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary on October 4, 2012. His 4 children include Ralph T. Schmidt of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Mary Jane Schmidt of St. Augustine, Florida; Gerald T. Schmidt of Lutz, Florida and Sally S. Heinze of Sarasota, Florida. His 3 grandchildren include Kerstin L. Schmidt from Kansas City, Missouri; Ashley E. Fillmore of Richmond, Virginia and Brendan A. Heinze of Sarasota, Florida. Philip was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Telecommunications from Ohio University. He was a Lieutenant in our nation's Army both domestically and served in the Military Police in Korea. He started and owned his own business, PCF Foam Corporation, based out of Cincinnati, for 29 years and then retired to Marco Island, Florida in 1982. In 1998, they moved to Naples and finally settled in Sarasota in 2005. Florida suited Philip. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating, tennis and soaking up that Florida sunshine! He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 2, at Church of the Palms.
