He was a fantastic actor and I'm sure a sweet, lovable man. We just watched Twister again and I was taken back to how young he was. He was brilliant in Capote. He wasn't himself. He WAS Capote. He is missed. My deepest regards to his family who miss him very much, I'm sure.

I haveloved everything you have done, since the first time I saw you. I was shocked and saddened when I finaly saw Mockingjay Part 1 and at the end there was a memorium to you. I rarely watch or read the news because it's too depressing.I missed your passing by a while. I will miss your wonderful face. I thank you for the unforgetable entertainment.

I didn't know Phil except through his phenomenal work. He was and is my favourite actor. I think of him often. His expressive physicality and range as an actor were breathtaking. As we approach the first anniversary of his utterly tragic death, he will never be forgotten. I hope that his children and partner will treasure the happy memories they have of him- he always seemed like a wonderful and caring Dad. Much love and light to you

What a profound effect the passing of Philip Seymour Hoffman has had on so many people whether you knew him or not the effect seems to be the same. A great loss to the Art of Acting and the family and friends he left behind. For someone who tried so hard to keep his family life private, his death caused the world to see the beautiful family suffering the loss of their Dad and Partner.

I am so saddened to know that such an incredibly generous artist is no longer here to express his art in such beautiful ways. And for his family - partner, children, mother -I have some sense of the tremendous loss that they will bear, in some way, for the rest of their lives. My thoughts are with them as they move forward in their own lives, without that light. What a loss, in so many different ways.

A Tribute from a Fan

February 10, 2014

I hope time heals for his wife, children, mother and the rest of his siblings.
If everyone here keeps remembering them with a prayer that will help them tremendously. Let's do this out of respect for Philip Seymour Hoffman. If we feel helpless and sad, this will help us too.
I look over all this outpouring of LOVE for Philip Seymour Hoffman and the memories and now legacy he leaves behind.
He is/and forever more the "PEOPLE'S ACTOR", proof of all these caring messages.
He wasn't a man to showcase designer label wardrobes, hot tabloids of extravagant vacations, wisecrack remarks to put others down or any other actions to be in the tabloids.
He was the "REAL DEAL". The element of a "TRUE GENTLEMAN". He took on challenging, ambitious, hard-working roles that the public valued and respected from him alone. All this and much more to redeem the honest respect from the applause of his fans during his life, and now forever more.
A Thank you to his mother, siblings, wife, and children for instilling qualities that made him such an endearing person to his fans.
God Bless, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rest in Peace!

I was watching the local news when they spoke of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death. My friend that was with me and I both gasped. We have been dealing with some personal issues of the same kind within our circle of friends. Of course I am the only one in our circle who has followed any of the actor's work. I feel for his family and know that he will always be remembered for being one of the best actor's ever.

I think that Philip was an individual who was just too intelligent and sensitive to survive in this cold, cruel world!
I hope that his untimely death helps people understand the harm that the secrecy of drug addiction can cause and that this will cause a change in the way society treats the drug addict.
I further hope that his family can find the courage to endure the pain of his loss!
I think that I would have liked to meet Philip and I would have been proud to have him as a friend!

I am so deeply saddened by Mr
Hoffman's death. He was one of my favorite actors because he made the ordinary man the star of the show. His death comes at a time in my life when I am struggling with issues also I guess that is one reason his death carries so much more meaning. His incredible briillance in portraying ordinary people touched so many including myself. My heart grieves for him and those in his personal and professional life.

As a fan, I will miss Mr. Hoffman. He was a wonderful actor who allowed the viewer to go along as he acted through the movie or play. My prayers for you, his family for you lost far more than I. A fan.

I've been an avid movie fan for my entire life, and was devastated at the news of Philip Seymour Hoffman's passing. Although he left us days ago, my tears continue to fall for him whenever his name is mentioned, his photo is shown - and even as I write this. Living in Rochester NY most of my adult life, I always assumed I would someday witness a live performance of his, catch a hometown appearance promoting a film - or even see him at a random Wegman's while home for the holidays. Sadly, it was not meant to be, and I will forever regret not having made it a priority previously. Philip was my absolute favorite actor, and I ranked him at the very top of the talent list for his generation. I considered each of his movies to be a gift to the world, especially now that he's gone - and I'm so grateful I have a copy of each one! Philip Seymour Hoffman was a brilliant actor that will never be forgotten; forever be admired. I am relieved for him personally, no longer having to fight his demons. I am so very sorry for his friends and family, experiencing, I suspect, gut wrenching grieve for this amazing man.

I have no words to express my shock and sadness and if I as a fan feel this way I can not begin to imagine the shock and sadness of PSH family, friends and other fans. No other actor can ever measure up to the talent he expressed in his films and on stage. What gifts of gems he has left for us to watch on our DVDs and at the movies. That brings a smile to my face:):):) May each of you be given more than enough strength to carry you through the hurt and pain you must have in your hearts. Remember all of the joyous and love filled times you shared. May you now experience the love, light, kindness and compassion of God expressing through all who you come in contact with. I have been praying for you. I'm sorry for the loss of Philip and the empty space in your family. I'm sending prayers and love your way.

"THE time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.

And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's."

You will always be alive in me, your brilliant work will live forever. My deepest condolences to your friends and family whose pain I cannot even imagine. Rest peacefully dear Phil. x
