Philip Simpkins Obituary
April 4, 2025
Washington, DC - Philip was 88 years old. He was born on September 11, 1936 in Washington, DC, to Ward Simpkins and Edna (Foht) Simpkins Downey. He served in US Army First Infantry Division in Germany and again in Vietnam when he was wounded in Nov 1965. He was awarded the Purple Heart. For 20 years Philip had been a resident of CLC II of the Miami VA Medical Center where he was ably assisted by aide Marjorie Britton. He will be missed. Philip is survived by his sister Linda (Simpkins) Wilcox, Yucca Valley, CA; and cousins Barbara (Hartung) Garner, Erie, PA; and Jack Palmer, Sebring, FL. Interment will be in the South Florida National Cemetery at Lake Worth, Florida on April 30, 2025 at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Van Orsdel Funeral & Cremation Services, Miami, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
