Philip Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by High Lawn Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Philip James "Oobie" Williams, 46, of Oak Hill, passed away on January 24, 2026. Born October 22, 1979, he was known for his strikingly different colored eyes and his family's long-standing joke regarding his refusal to keep his pants pulled up; with all the kids saying they could recognize his backside before his face.

The youngest son of Sandy Williams and the late Terry Williams, Oobie was the "annoyingly perfect" baby of the family. Always had good grades, athletic, and was a die-hard UNC Tar Heels fan with an endless circle of friends. His siblings jokingly claimed he kept all the "good genes" for himself. He was a funny, witty, and "ride-or-die" friend who could crack everyone up with his hilariously long stories.

An old soul at heart, Philip saw beauty in everything. He loved the river and bonfires with all his people. Whether researching old treasures, finding items metal detecting, cleaning, and visiting old cemeteries, or expressing himself through photography and painting, he found value in everything, which led to a small hoard of his found treasures.

Above all, Oobie was a selfless and amazing caregiver. He dedicated himself to his parents and was a champion for all kids, so many times providing Christmas gifts or money for families he knew could use the help. He gave everything to others, even while fighting his own brave battle to find peace. To say his family is missing a piece of their soul would be a massive understatement.

Philip is survived by his momma, Sandy; a large, loving tribe of brothers and sisters, too many to list; and numerous nieces and nephews who considered him their favorite uncle and biggest supporter.

Philip will be cremated, and an epic celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank everyone who loved him and reached out during this time.

Rest easy, Oobie. We love you infinity and beyond.
