Phillip Wayne Akemon Sr was born in London, KY on August 24, 1951. He passed peacefully in the Colorado mountains on October 16, 2024.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Alfred (Norma) Akemon and Doolia Spurlock Akemon, sister Juanita Akemon and brother, Alfred Akemon Jr.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda (Lynch), and his children: Phillip Wayne (Missy) Akemon, Jason (Holly) Akemon and Holly (Jessee) Bugg; grandchildren, Jordan (Kaylee) Akemon, Drew (Haley) Akemon, Reed (Holly Jo) Akemon, Olivia (Buie) Williams, Clay Akemon, Jarred, Alyssa, Cameron, Connor and Jasse Bugg; and by 3 great grandsons, Lincoln, Luka and Kash with 2 highly anticipated great grandaughters arriving in December; one brother, Joe (Caroline) Akemon, one sister-in-law Pauline Akemon, and a host of adored nieces and nephews.
Phillip was an active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His faith and love for his Heavenly Father and Savior was a priority and foundation of his daily life. He was a barber, real estate broker/auctioneer, talented musician and storyteller. He was passionate about participating, promoting and preserving bluegrass music.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, musician and lover of life. He was the epitome of love, acceptance and support for his family, friends and all who he encountered.
Funeral Services for Phillip will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Stringbean Memorial Park with President Arnold Nordgren presiding. Burial will follow in the Ray Lynch Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 12 Noon Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Stringbean Memorial Park. Pallbearers include, Jordan, Drew, Reed and Clay Akemon, Buie Williams and Jassee Bugg.
