Phillip Bachinski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes - Lansing Chapel on Jan. 11, 2026.
Phillip E. Bachinski, known affectionately as Phil to his friends and loved ones, passed away after a long and courageous battle with Lymphoma on January 8, 2026. Born May 7, 1960, in Manistee, Michigan he graduated from Manistee Catholic Central. After graduation, he embarked on a career in retail that would span over four decades. His professional life started at Milliken's Department Store, where he dedicated over 25 years of service. Love led Phil to the Lansing area, where he continued to pursue his passion for retail at Linen & Things for a decade, followed by five years at Bed Bath & Beyond, and finally at DSW, from where he retired in 2025. Phil's work was more than a job; it was an extension of his personality, allowing him to offer a helping hand, a kind word, or a friendly smile.
Phil's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He was a man of devotion, finding solace and strength in his Catholic beliefs and a special reverence for Mother Mary. An avid shopper, Phil found joy in the simple pleasure of long walks and shopping trips, a pastime he often shared with his late mother-in-law. These excursions were not merely about the purchases but about the experiences and fun they had.
Christmas was a particularly special time for Phil. His creative spirit shone brightest during the holiday season when he transformed his home into a festive wonderland. Every room and surface was adorned with decorations, each piece carefully chosen and lovingly placed.
Phil's legacy is one of laughter, friendship, and creativity. He touched the lives of many with his humor and warmth, leaving behind memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lorraine (Adamski) Bachinski, his sister-in-law Sandra Bachinski, and beloved dog Chaucer. Phil is survived by his husband, Paul Levandowski; five siblings, Tom (Peggy) Bachinski, Susan Bachinski, Robert Bachinski, Patrick Bachinski and Julie Bachinski, his dog Gizmo, and with several cousins and nephews.
A gathering in celebration of Phillip's life will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel 520 East Mount Hope Avenue, Lansing where the rosary will be prayed at 3:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Michigan Lymphoma Society in memory of Phillip.

Phil was a good friend. So many memories of St. Joe School. Laughs and sometimes getting in trouble . I´m very happy we got to share great memories.
Recently we were messaging each other about life in general. He adored my Mother. Always a kind word for her. He also was always saying how he liked my Dad. Phil will be missed!
