Phillip Burchfield Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jan. 1 to Jan. 2, 2026.
Phillip Ray Burchfield (Phil), age 74, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Ervin and Delorese Burchfield.

After graduating high school, Phil proudly served his country in the United States Army. He later married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Trop, beginning a devoted marriage that would span many years and be the foundation of a close and loving family.

Phil had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He especially enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, contagious laughter, and the unmistakable twinkle in his eyes-qualities that brought comfort and joy to those who knew him.

Phil is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Burchfield; his daughter, Amber Jouse; his sons, Justin and Jessie Burchfield; his brother, Eric Burchfield (Mary); many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Danial Alexander, along with numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Delorese Burchfield; his brothers, Ervin and Matthew Burchfield; and his brother-in-law, William (Bill) Trop.

Phil's legacy lives on in the love he shared, the memories he created, and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial will be held to commemorate Phil's life at the family's discretion.
