HENDERSON- Phillip Wayne Chappell, 73, of Freedom Lane, died Friday, February 13, 2026, at Senior Citizens Nursing Home. Born December 25, 1952 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Mary Aycock Chappell and Rev. Charlie Junior Chappell. He retired from Maria Parham Health where he worked in the maintenance department.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Gardens by Rev. Henry Abbott and Charles Powell.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Evelyn Spain Chappell of the home; one sister, Alma C. Gillian and husband, Roberto of Henderson; one step-brother, Joe Currin of Henderson; one step-daughter, Frances Vargas and husband, Chico of Henderson; one step-son, Billy Lawson and wife, Melissa of Henderson; one grandson, Billy Lawson, Jr., five step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Chappell.
