Phillip Joseph Courvelle, Sr., a beloved member of the Opelousas, Louisiana community, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024.   He was born in Garland, Louisiana on November 26, 1942.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.   Father Neil Petitt will conduct the service.  A burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, La.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Courvelle, Jr., John Amar Courvelle, Nicholas Amar Courvelle, Aaron B. Courvelle, III, Matthew Cormier and David Lanclos.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert.  The funeral home will re-open on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

During his lifetime, Phillip established himself as a successful entrepreneur by owning and operating Courvelle Used Cars and Courvelle's RV in his hometown. His dedication and hard work were evident to all who knew him.

Aside from his professional accomplishments, Phillip also served his country honorably as a member of the National Guard Reserves.  In his leisure time, Phillip found joy in simple pleasures such as gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. These hobbies brought him peace and fulfillment throughout his life.

He is survived by Barbara Sattler, his significant other, his children, Phillip Courvelle, Jr., John Courvelle, Bernadette Karen Courvelle and Christopher Courvelle. Additionally, Phillip is survived by his brothers, Aaron Bernard Courvelle, Jr. and Lambert Courvelle; his sister, Emily Courvelle; and his grandchildren, Ashley Beth Courvelle, Lee LeBouef, Andrea Cormier and Nicholas Amar Courvelle.

Phillip will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Bernard Courvelle, Sr. and Maryina Thibodeaux Courvelle and his brother, Amar Courvelle.

Phillip Joseph Courvelle's legacy of hard work and love for family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
