Larry was born on November 1, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Vera Kanoza Doeblin and Robert Grey Doeblin.
He grew up in McKees Rock, PA. He joined the US Army in May 1960, and after training and electronics school, was assigned to the 230th Ordinance Corps. Subsequently, he was stationed on Okinawa for the better part of two years. He was honorably discharged in San Francisco in February of 1963.
He attended St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York and graduated cum laude. During college he worked a number of jobs, and also had assistance from the GI Bill. He then applied to Georgetown University School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree in 1973. He did a surgical internship, followed by a short experience in ENT and some time in emergency medicine. Following this, he studied radiology at Georgetown University Hospital, following which he did a fellowship in Ultrasound and CT at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
After he completed this fellowship, he joined the Wichita Radiology Group in Wichita, Kansas and retired in December of 2002.
In March 1998, Larry met Margalee Wright and it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship as life partners. Together they had fun adventures such as motorcycling, scuba diving, and learning to play Duplicate Bridge.
Larry enjoyed watching clouds in a blue sky, cooking delicious food, and spending time with his delightful children, Melissa Skelton (Joshua) of Snoqualmie, WA, Kristin Doeblin (Nelson) of Largo, FL, and Jason Doeblin of Independence, MO. He was proud of his grandsons, Malcolm and Conrad Skelton and granddaughter, Madison Doeblin Pinango.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children and three grandchildren, Margalee and her daughters, Liesl Wright and Lorilee (Kenny) Thompson and grandchildren, Sage, Rori, Jessica, Charley and Joe.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Cozine Life Events Center.
