Obituary published on Legacy.com by Russell & Pica Funeral Home - Brockton on Jan. 9, 2026.
Phillip Carl Fleischer, 45, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was the loving husband of Kathleen "Katie" (McGarry) Fleischer.
Born in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1980, he was the son of James and Peggy (Henschen) Fleischer.
Phillip was an avid sports fan and a longtime season ticket holder for the New England Revolution. He loved and sometimes loathed Penn State Football, the Patriots, the Bruins and the Red Sox. But his favorite team was always the Mansfield Hornets. Phil was the proudest football and cheer dad. If he wasn't at the field watching Archie, he was at a cheer competition or a RDA performance supporting Lilly.
Phillip loved gaming and could often be found playing Fortnite or Roblox with the kids. He loved music - in particular, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, and Weezer. He also had a knack for changing the words to songs and making them his own. If you knew Phil, you probably heard some of his masterpieces. He loved a good karaoke night. He loved movies and loved sharing all of his favorites with Lilly and Archie.
Phillip was a brilliant software engineer and developer. Phil graduated from Penn State and brought his talent and passion to many companies over the years. He loved a good challenge and loved helping others and leading teams at work - most recently at Pager Health.
Phillip made friends wherever he went. His smile and laugh were infectious. He was quick with a joke or a one-liner. He treasured time spent with friends - at poker games, fire pits, bros nights, watching football and soccer games, sitting on back decks, or grabbing dinner and a drink.
Phillip's greatest love of all was his family. He and Katie shared almost 16 years of marriage full of laughter and love. The best days of his life were when Lilly and Archie were born. He was wrapped around their fingers from the beginning. His goal every day was to make them all smile and laugh and feel protected and loved - a goal he always achieved. He loved family trips to Ogunquit, Grove Creek, New York City, and Disney. His favorite time of day was always bedtime when he could sit with Lilly and Archie and sing them each their special song - Red is the Rose for Lilly and Taps for Archie. He also loved his first baby, his dog, Tyke, fiercely. Tyke was Phil's shadow, following him everywhere he went.
In addition to his wife Katie and his parents James and Peggy, Phillip is survived by his children Lilly and Archie; his siblings Andrew Fleischer and his wife Alicia and Allison Hanson and her husband Brian; his nephews Markus and Mason; and several aunts, uncles, cousins; and his father in law John McGarry. He was the grandson of the late Thomas and Eleanor Fleischer and Herman and Ruth Carlyn Henschen. He was a loving cousin of the late Sarah Bennett (Fleischer) and son in law of the late Jan McGarry.
Following Cremation, A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday, January 19th from 3:00PM-6:30PM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 6:30PM.
