Phillip "Bud" Joseph Pillitere, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 22, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on July 3, 1936, in Beaumont, Texas, Bud lived a life rich in dedication, love, and community service.
As a distinguished Waste Water Superintendent at the City of Port Arthur, Bud was known not only for his professional contributions but also for the deep sense of responsibility he felt towards his community. His work played a significant role in ensuring the health and safety of those around him, embodying the spirit of service that he carried throughout his life.
Bud was a pillar of the family, a title he earned through his unwavering support and commitment to his loved ones. He is survived by his sons, Greg Pillitere and his wife Georgette of Nederland, and Chris Pillitere and his wife Joan of Cypress, along with his daughter, Andrea Pillitere of Houston. Bud took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Jacob Pillitere and his wife Bridgette, Joshua Pillitere and his wife Sarah, Christopher Pillitere and his wife Kelsey, and Casey Pillitere and his wife Madison. His legacy further extends to his great-grandchildren, Nora, Bennett, and Hudson, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Chrissy Mullens of Port Arthur and Donna Norris of Orangefield and his sister Anna Brazeal.
Throughout his years, Bud cherished the moments spent with family, embracing sports as a lifelong passion and fostering a legacy of love and togetherness. He shared in the camaraderie of the Coffee Club at the YMCA of Port Arthur, where friendships blossomed, and laughter abounded.
Bud is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 62 years, Dianne Pillitere, who remained forever in his heart, and his parents, Peter J. and Catherine Barbera Pillitere, and his sisters Mary Carlquist and Betty Jo Chandler.
Visitation will be held on January 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, both taking place at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas, 77619. Phillip Joseph Pillitere’s legacy of love, strength, and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his cherished Dianne.
