Phuoy Chung

Of Alexandria, Virginia, passed peacefully with family by her side on December 11, 2025. She is the beloved wife of the late Wa Kan Cheang; cherished sister of Chi-Kin Chung and the late Yoeung Vay Chung; loving mother of Fong Chhieng, Lan Cheang, Paul Cheang, and Fung Ly; and grandmother to 13 adoring grandchildren; and great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren.

Born in Cambodia, Phuoy survived the Khmer Rouge era and made her way to the United States, where her strength and devotion shaped generations. Phuoy lived a vibrant life surrounded by a boisterous and loving family that adored her as much as she adored them. She was a woman small in stature, but a titan of a matriarch whose warmth and kindness touched many.
