Phyllis Carol Brinson Banks, 76 of Grantsboro, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, August 22, 2025.
She was a lifelong and devoted member of Rock of Zion Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a deaconess and as part of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Phyllis lived her life with steadfast faith and a heart full of kindness. To her son, she was not only a mother but also a teacher – instilling in him lessons of loyalty, honesty, devotion, faithfulness, and compassion. To her family, friends, and community, she was a shining example of Christian love, and she touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and unwavering generosity. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a proud and loving MeMa, and a cherished friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carol and Frances Brinson and her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” T. Banks.
Phyllis leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Freddie Ethel and wife, Kelly; stepson, Dicky Banks and wife, Bev; brother, Gary Brinson and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Ryleigh Ethel, Amy Banks, Thomas Banks, and Matt Banks; nieces, Kim Potter and husband, Derek, and Megan Harper and husband, Benny; great-nephews, Hunter and Dylan Potter and Bryce Gooding; and great nieces, Khloe Daniels and Madison Harper.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29th, at Rock of Zion OFWB Church with Rev. Ray Lewis officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Grantsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Phyllis’s love, faith, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
