Phyllis Blanche Stafford Gordon, 85, Elyria, OH, formerly of Pearisburg, VA., went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025. Phyllis was born on May 18, 1940, in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late Martin Lewey Stafford and Glenna Ellen Johnston Stafford. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence Denver Vaught and Charles Bernard Gordon, Sr. and 1 grandchild, Troy A. Gordon, 1 brother, Gary Dean Stafford and 1 sister, Margaret Kaye Raynes.
Phyllis was a Railroader’s wife and lived in various places throughout West Virginia and Ohio before retiring to Trigg in the late 1990’s. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother who provided a warm, loving home to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Bear Spring United Methodist Church.
She is survived by 2 sons, L. Dean Vaught (Diane) of Waverly, OH, Charles Bernard Gordon, Jr. (Jeanne) of Indialantic, Fl, 2 daughters, Debra L. Cruz (Richard) of Bellevue, OH, Regina F. Gordon of Elyria, OH, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Carole Ann Eaton of Pearisburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Gary Poff officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral 1 hour before the service, from 12 – 1 pm.
