Phyllis H. Cole, age 88, of Meshoppen, Auburn Township, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at CMC in Scranton, PA surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born in Tunkhannock, Pa on December 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Carl (d. Sept. 22, 1964) and Catherine Herman Hunter (d. March 21, 1989). She graduated from Meshoppen High School in 1954.

After high school she worked at Shiffer's Shoe store, then First National Bank of Meshoppen until she married the love of her life, Ben A. Cole (m. May 6, 1957). Together they owned and operated the A.B. Cole Dairy Farm, located outside Meshoppen for over 40 years.

Phyllis was a member of the community women's Birthday Club, Meshoppen Community Church, and bowled for many years in the Tunkhannock Women's Bowling League.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Phyllis enjoyed eating popcorn, watching movies, gardening, taking trips to the casino, and watching birds at her birdfeeders.

Phyllis and Ben spent 30 plus years going to Florida as snowbirds at Whispering Pines Park in Frostproof, FL. She enjoyed playing bingo, walking, riding her three-wheeled bike, visits from family and friends, and tending her flowers.

Phyllis is survived by her children Penny Farr (Philip) of Mehoopany, PA, Brian Cole of Clarks Green, PA, Cindy Cole of Meshoppen, PA, Chris Cole (Jamie) of Meshoppen, PA, and Art Cole (Betsy) of Meshoppen, PA, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, Frank (Diane) Hunter of Meshoppen, PA and Donna Manning of Vestal, NY, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by husband of 67 years, Ben A. Cole (d. Aug. 13, 2024); daughter, Candy Smith (d. Nov.1, 2024); grandson, Casey Smith; sisters, Lorraine White (William) and Norma Hebner Corey (Chuck and Phil); brothers/sisters-in-law, Guy Manning, Marjorie and Kenneth Lee and Betty Cole White.

A Funeral Service for Phyllis we be held at 4:00 PM from the Meshoppen Community Church, 128 Church St., Meshoppen PA 18630, on Sunday, August 24, 2025 with Reverend Tom Mott officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Overfield Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to nurses, doctors and staff at CMC, family, and friends for all their support.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Phyllis' name to the Meshoppen Community Church, c/o Bruce Priestner, PO Box 159 Meshoppen, PA, 18630.
