PHYLLIS CRUCE

Phyllis June Cruce was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 1, 1947, to James E. Cruce and Sarah R. Cruce. She attended School #47 and was a 1964 graduate of Shortridge High School. Phyllis's greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her children, nieces and nephews.

Under the leadership of Rev. Toliver at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Phyllis accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at a young age. Having been affiliated with Grace Apostolic Church, Phyllis eventually moved her membership to Eastside Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Andrew L. Williams. She served there faithfully for more than 40 years until her health began to fail.

Phyllis worked various jobs in the city and eventually retired from being a Certified Nursing Assistant with various healthcare facilities in the city of Indianapolis. She was a long-time employee of New Hope, where she provided care to various patients.

On August 26, 1967, Phyllis brought her first child into the world, a son, and after which her daughter was born in 1969. Phyllis loved her children and believed in keeping them in line educationally and spiritually. She was a youth sponsor, and choir member of the church, and believed that her children should be raised in the house of the Lord and be active participants in the church.

On Monday, August 18, 2025, Phyllis made her transition from this earthly realm into her spiritual Home. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, James and Sarah Cruce; her sister, Wanda R. Cruce-Barnett, and two brothers, James Cruce and Arnold Cruce.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her memories to her two children, a son, Christopher B. Wilson of Los Angeles, California, and a daughter, Jada N. Cruce of Atlanta, Georgia; several nieces and nephews, whom she wholeheartedly loved, nephews, Pierre D (Diane) Barnett of Indianapolis, Indiana, Shaun E. (Gale) Barnett of Indianapolis, Indiana and Seth J. (Michelle) Barnett of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her nieces, Pier A. Bradshaw of Phoenix, Arizona, Sabrina E. White of Aurora, Illinois, Courtney D. Barnett of Phoenix, Arizona and Elaine Dinkins of Indianapolis, Indiana, along with several cousins across the country.
