DAVIS, Phyllis A. - 82
Phyllis A. (Hardesty) Davis, age 82, of West Lafayette, died at
6:59 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, surrounded by her
family, at the home of her grandson and his wife, Jerry and Lena of
Lafayette. Born in Lafayette on July 15, 1929, she was the daughter
of the late Richard Raymond and A. Ruth (Graves) Hardesty.
She was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
She married Melvin R. Davis on March 9, 1948 in Lafayette and he
preceded her in death on September 17, 2009.
Mrs. Davis was a registered Pediatric nurse at St. Elizabeth
Hospital for many years before retiring. She was a member of
Christ Memorial Temple. When Phyllis was not working, she
spent all of her time with her family.
Surviving is a daughter, Marsha Davis of Lafayette and two sons,
Melvin "Butch" Davis (life partner, Debbie Poole) of Lafayette and
Robert Davis (companion, Teresa Davis) of Rossville. Several
grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. She was
preceded in death by three sons; Jerry Davis, Sr., Darryl "Joe"
Davis, and Steven "Skip" Hardesty and two brothers; Richard and
Gene Hardesty.
Visitation one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service Tuesday at
Simplicity Funeral Care, 1608 Schuyler Ave., Pastor Raymond Parnell
officiating. Burial to follow at Spring Vale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Elizabeth School of
Nursing.
