Phyllis Forney Obituary
April 23, 1943 - May 18, 2025
On May 18th, 2025, the world grew a little quieter as Phyllis Murray Moody Forney took her final breath with her daughters at her side. She left this world just as she lived in iton her own terms, with strength, grace, and love.
Preceding Phyllis in death was her first husband, Patrick Moody and their beloved daughter, Melene Moody James. Sister Linda Taylor, granddaughter Taylor Nelms, grandson Justin Barnes, and her mother and father, Lillian Kingsford and Jack Falcona. She also joins countless dear friends and her beloved Shih Tzu, Jessie Paul.
Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband Mort Forney; her daughters Angela (husband Dr. Matthew Slade) and Nicole (husband Michael Robichaud), stepchildren Julie Forney and Shawn Forney (wife Brooke), her treasured grandchildren Timothy, Holly, and Katie Smith (husband Jeffrey Gallardo), Carson, Olivia, and Carter Slade, Isaac Robichaud, Trevor Denkers (wife Lorraine), Tanner Nelms, and Jacob Barnes and her great-grandchildren, Henry Smith Gallardo, Hendrix Slade, Olivia and Thomas Denkers, Daxtyn Barnes and another sweet baby boy due September 2026. She is also survived by her sister, Vera Beth Johnson and many amazing friends who showed up for her until the end.
Phyllis was a force. She was a light. She was ours. Her presence will be missed deeply, but her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at DanWalt Gardens in Billings. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Phyllis in the way she would have wanted: call an old friend, dance in the kitchen, and speak your truth with love.

It's ironic that I thought of Phyllis last weekend as I walked on the campus of MSU-B. I met her in 1985 at Eastern Montana College, Center for Handicapped Children, where I completed a Physical Therapy Clinical under Inez Jamison PT, and Phyllis was her assistant. She had such a love for the young students that she cared for, and was an inspiration and delight to work with. We ran into each other throughout the years, whether while working at the hospital, or out on a walk in Pioneer Park. She will be missed by so many, and I send my heartfelt condolences to her family.

Angie and Nikki, my heart goes out to you both and your families. Your Mom was such a kind person. I remember her fondly from our long ago days of the junior high car pool. She and your Dad were welcoming to me when I'd hike up the road to knock on your door. I'm thinking of you all and sending love.
