Phyllis Thelma Greenspan, known to many as Pippi, has passed on at 103 years as of Friday, December 19, 2025. She left us peacefully at her home in Citrus Heights with her family by her side.
Phyllis was born on April 25, 1922 in Millinocket, Maine to Phillip Eugene Gibson and Eva Beatrice Sandstrom, both of Maine. Her name Pippi was given to her by classmates in high school and was what she was called by family and friends to the very end. After high school, she attended beauty school and began her lifelong career in the business. She owned her own beauty shops in various locations into her 80s.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton Maurice Greenspan, as well as brothers Eugene and Donald, and sisters, Anna Mae, Anna Bell, and June. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey I. Greenspan (Janis), grandson Aaron Greenspan, and sister Jane Hines. She is dearly missed by all.
In following Pippi’s wishes, formal ceremonies will not be held. Please feel welcome to share your favorite memories in our guestbook.
