North Brookfield – Phyllis M. Hubacz, 89, a former long-time resident of North Brookfield, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Palmer HealthCare Center with her family by her side.
She leaves her sons, Jeffrey G. Hubacz and his wife Felicia of Barre, Michael J. Hubacz and his wife Joanna of Barre and Thomas A. Hubacz and his wife Lisa of West Brookfield; her daughter, Lori A. St. Cyr and her husband David of Three Rivers, as well as 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 nieces and nephews.
Phyllis worked as a Dental Assistant for 10 years, and then as a carrier and clerk for the United States Postal Service for 18 years prior to retirement. At one time, while living in Florida, she even worked as switchboard operator, connecting calls manually through direct line inputs. She was an EMT with the North Brookfield Emergency Squad, and at one time, served as Chairman of the Board.
She loved to read, enjoyed walking for exercise, was a great dancer, and was an avid collector of Beanie Babies, teddy bears, and unicorns.
She was a former member of St. Joseph Church in North Brookfield.
A graveside service for Phyllis is planned for early spring in Walnut Grove Cemetery in North Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Brookfield Emergency Squad, PO Box 73, North Brookfield, MA 01535.
