Phyllis Johnson
Phyllis Jean Johnson, aged 95, of Midland, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at MyMichigan Hospital in Midland. Born on January 17, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Earl and Ethal (Sillaway) Comstock. Phyllis's life journey began in Lansing, where she blossomed into a bright and determined young woman, graduating from Eastern High School in 1948. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to continue her education at Lansing Business College.
Phyllis met her husband in Lansing, and the two were united in marriage in the same year she graduated from high school. Together, they embarked on a lifelong adventure, nurturing and raising four wonderful sons. He preceded her in death in 2014. A devoted homemaker, Phyllis poured her heart into creating a warm and loving environment for her family.
An avid traveler, Phyllis's zest for life took her to many places, with a special fondness for Tucson, Arizona, where she enjoyed wintering for over 19 years. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her love for the game of tennis. Phyllis's passion for the sport was evident in the multiple tennis medals she won, a reflection of her competitive spirit and dedication to staying active.
Antiquing was another of Phyllis's joys, a hobby she delighted in sharing with her daughter-in-law Kathy and friends.
Phyllis leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Tom Johnson, Dave (Pam) Johnson, Jack (Deanna) Johnson, and Robert (Kathy) Johnson. Her legacy is further carried on by her grandchildren, Grant (Bobbie) Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Bret (Lauren) Johnson, Danielle Johnson, Daniel Johnson, and Makk Johnson, as well as four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings, Jim and Patricia.
The family would like to thanks the Staff at Independence Village for the loving and compassionate care they provided for Phyllis during her time there.
