Phyllis Messer Obituary
Phyllis Messer, 59, of Ridgeley, formerly of Kermit, WV, died March 1, 2026, at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born September 22, 1966, in Holden, WV, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Wyzona (Messer) Marcum.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reese Messer; stepson, Michael Muncy; and siblings, Eddie Marcum and Irene Marcum.
Phyllis had been a certified nursing assistant in a Logan County nursing home.
She belonged to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed making jewelry and was always ready to go shopping! Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren!
Survivors include her sons, Rev. Lark J. Muncy and Shane Marcum; grandchildren, Alana, Justin, and Carter Muncy, and Braylee Marcum; sisters, Connie Flemings and Elizabeth Muncy.
Friends will be received at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Cumberland, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 1 PM to 2 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM, with The Rev. Ryan K. Viands, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church Property Committee, 1601 Frederick Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
