Phyllis Miles Obituary
October 16, 1939 - December 12, 2025
Phyllis was born in Shenandoah, Iowa, to her loving parents, Ernest John and Sybil Blank. As a young girl, neighbors took her to church, where she heard about Jesus and put her faith in Him - a love she carried throughout her life and shared with others.
She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1957 and later earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the School of Nursing in Clarinda, Iowa. Nursing was one of her greatest joys.
Phyllis had two sons, John and Bob, with her first husband, and a foster son, Jay. In 1979, she married Ron Miles Sr. and together they had one son, Ron Jr. Ron Sr. also brought his daughter, Kelly, into the marriage.
Devoted to her family, Phyllis went out of her way to care for those she loved. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, hosting family and friends, and serving the Lord in any way she could at the churches she attended. She taught her boys to adapt and overcome, be honest, and talk to God.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Miles Sr., her parents Ernest and Sybil Blank, her brother Edwin Blank, and her granddaughter Ashley Morrison.
She is survived by her sons John Barrett and wife Linn, Robert Barrett, Ronald Miles Jr. and wife Bethany, step-daughter Kelly Miles, foster son Jay Peres, brother Ernest John Blank Jr. and wife Ann, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Phyllis will be remembered for her love for Jesus and her commitment to helping others. She loved and was loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held January 2, 2026, at Plains Baptist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. The viewing will begin at 4:30pm followed by the memorial service at 6:30pm. Dinner will follow. The graveside service will be January 3, 2026, at 10:30am at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
