DE SOTO - Phyllis Naomi Morgan, a beloved member of the De Soto community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Dec. 10, 1932, in Hurst, Phyllis was a cherished daughter of Leo and Lucille (Wasson) Hicks. She married Charles Andrew Morgan on Dec. 24, 1947, in Royalton.
Phyllis was a talented beautician who passionately devoted 30 years to her craft, owning her own shop where she brought joy and confidence to countless clients. Her warm smile and expert touch made her a cherished figure in the community. Before embarking on her beauty career, Phyllis dedicated three years to the SIU Student Center, where she thrived in her role and connected with students. Phyllis was also known for her part as president of the Women's Auxiliary for the Eagles Club for a year, where she made lasting connections and friendships. When she wasn't busy in her shop, her hobbies were working with crafts and sewing, where she was known to create many beautiful wreaths and baskets.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Trudy (Joe) Albert, Sue (David) Roberts, Metty Morgan (Mary), and Douglas Morgan (Jeni); six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. The love and memories she cultivated will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Morgan; and her 10 siblings.
