Phyllis Nickel Obituary

PHYLLIS NICKEL Phyllis (Dyck) Nickel passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1932, to Ervin and Agnes Dyck. Phyllis attended Sand Creek Grade School and Goessel High School, graduating in 1950. She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. In 1951, she married Alfred and moved to a farm north of town. To this union, four children were born Bradley, Jonene, Ronald, and Lori. Her family was a very important part of her life as a wife, mother, homemaker, and especially caretaker. They all enjoyed life on the farm. Later on in life, Phyllis was involved in volunteer service, including helping with the local blood drives, working at the Et. Cetera shop, and finally as a "pink lady" at Newton Medical Center. Survivors include daughter, Lori (Randy) Dellett of El Dorado; grandson, Brian (Jessica) Maddox of Indianapolis; brother, Galen (Paula) Dyck; sister, Kristi (Jim) Fetty, and numerous other relatives. There will be a family graveside service at the Alexanderwohl Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Family will meet friends following the service at the Goessel City Building until 4 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethesda Home or Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 96, Goessel, KS 67053.
