Phyllis K. Phillips (formerly Holmstrom), 95, of Varna Illinois. died on November 23, 2023 at her home. Born on June 24, 1928 to the late James and Virginia (Haun) Shirley, she married Charles Edward Holmstrom in 1950 in Varna Illinois. They raised three children and Charles passed on August 21 1981 She later married Bob Phillips in 1993. Bob’s passing was January 16, 2004.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Christine Schoepke, James (Debra) Holmstrom, Ronald (Joan) Holmstrom; grandchildren Timothy, Tracy, Eric, Curtis, Jilian, Jennifer, Ryan, Kevin, and Ross; 19 Great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Todd Schoepke and great grandson Calvin.
Phyllis, Charles and the kids spent summers at Condit’s Ranch camping and riding their 5 horses as members of the Washburn Song & Saddle Club. Later she was a nurse’s aide at Saint Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley for over 23 years. She loved reading murder mystery books, joining the red hats for fun, and ladies church group for conversation.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16 at St. John Lutheran church in Toluca at 11 AM with Pastor Mauricio officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery #1 at a later date. Memorials can be made to Varna Fire Department, the ARK Animal Kennel, or St. John’s Lutheran of Toluca. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
