Phyllis Lorene Puffinbarger, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Kiowa Kansas.
Phyllis was born to Garfield and Bernice Ricker on October 10, 1936, in Anthony Kansas. She graduated High School from Bluff City High School. She married Jerry Puffinbarger in Cherokee in 1955. Together they were blessed with three children; Edward, Lloyd (Chub) and Tammy. Phyllis worked at the Cherokee manor and later worked for Whites Electric as a secretary. She loved going to garage sales so much, she helped put on consignment sales and later opened her own shop; “Phyllis’s Wonderworld.”
In her free time, she was a member of the Red Hat’s Society in Cherokee, she volunteered with the Cherokee Main Street during the 4th of July celebrations and any other time she could. She received the Main Street Lifetime Achievement Award for her hard work and dedication. She was a member of the Cherokee First Baptist Church. She loved collecting frogs and was well known for it. Phyllis enjoyed going to casinos, playing bingo, and drinking coffee with her friends. She was a one-of-a-kind lady that everyone stopped to talk to or give a hard time.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Edward Puffinbarger of Cherokee, Lloyd (Chub) Puffinbarger of Kingfisher, and Tammy Puffinbarger of Midwest City. Five grandkids Erica Goodwin (Robbie) and Elicia Puffinbarger of Kingfisher, Kyle (Kendra) Puffinbarger and Kelli (Kolby) Arnold of Cherokee, and Cody Ledbetter of Midwest City. 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Bernice Ricker; her brothers Charles Ricker and Lloyd Ricker; and her sister Rosanna Anton; her daughter-in-law Ladona Puffinbarger; and grandson Chase Puffinbarger.
Viewing will be Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Cherokee First Baptist Church on Monday July 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
