Phyllis Marie Shaw, age 83, went to be with her Lord on March 25, 2024. She is survived by her five loving children Annette (Don) Anderson, James (Laura) Shaw, Jr., Susette "Sue" (Carl) Riley, Steven (Lisa) Shaw, and Christian "Chris" (Carrie) Shaw; her 16 precious grandchildren, Jacob McBride (Tarah), Hannah Morin, Nathan McBride (Annette), Joel Anderson, Kailin Virden (Ben), Heather Lick (Marty), Randi Still (Steven), Noah Riley, Aaron Riley (Kawaii), Melissa Posil (TJ), Steven Shaw (Laine), Kristi Shaw, Taylor Shaw (Megan), Rachel Shaw, Abigail Shaw, Evan Shaw. 15 beautiful great-grandchildren, her cherished sister Sheila Bartlett, and many nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Pastor James Malcolm Shaw Sr., her parents Louis and Helen Friend, her mother and father in law James and Laura Shaw and her three dear brothers, the late Roger (the late Judy) Friend, Robert (survived by Mary) Friend, Donald Friend and great grandson Maddox Jacob McBride.
Phyllis was born in Cazenovia, New York and later married the love of her life, James in the same city in 1959. They shared 53 wonderful years together before his passing in 2012. She had a quiet strength that only grew stronger after James passed, holding her family close and providing the comforts of a strong matriarch. She possessed a beautiful smile, a charming laugh, and she encouraged her ever-growing family to love the Lord as much as she did. She was a proud member of the MeadowRidge Baptist Church in Zion and prior to her move to NC, she attended First Assembly of God in Union Grove WI, and a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Friends and family will meet for visitation on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 5PM-8PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee. The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, April 5 at 10AM, with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Phyllis' name to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
