Phyllis Ann Smith

Phyllis Ann Smith, age 89, died Friday, March 6, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.

Phyllis was born January 14, 1937 in St. Peter, MN. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in Mankato, MN and also graduated from the LPN nursing program in Mankato, MN. She worked at the Community Hospital in St. Peter under the supervision of Connie Butler and Marcella Hedberg.

She retired from the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center, where she had worked for over 20 years. Her career in nursing was in various hospitals in the mental health field for over 43 years. She retired on July 7, 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Will) Sargent; son, Edward (Rose) Smith; grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin) Krueger, Kindra (Travis) Fisher, Abby Sargent, Ryan Briese, Brittany Smith, and Blaise Smith; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Krueger, William Krueger, Evelyn Fisher, Barrett Fisher, and Sylvia Fisher; brother-in-law, Warner Stoffel of rural St. Peter; special family members, Kathy and Bob Hill and family from Iowa and Nebraska; special friends, Wendy Lehnertz and Marilyn Larson; special niece and nephew, Patty Rosenow and Bob Stoffel; and many extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Victor Fay of St. Peter; sister, Mary Stoffel of St. Peter; brother, Raymond Fay of St. Peter

Mass will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the Church of St. Peter with visitation held one hour prior.
