Age 90, Phyllis was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Fred and Agnes (Brejcha) Thomas on November 24, 1934, and was delivered into the arms of our Lord on November 6, 2025.

Phyllis was raised in Bennet, Nebraska, where she attended school, graduating from Bennet High School in 1953. She attended one semester at Nebraska Wesleyan College for nursing.

On June 14, 1954, Phyllis married the love of her life and soulmate, Ralph Steward, and they began a 71-year adventure. This union was blessed with five children, thirteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She worked ten years as a beloved bookkeeper at Farmers Cooperative in Bennet and retired after many devoted years at the University of Nebraska Bursar's office.

Phyllis loved children and they loved her. She actively served the community and God through organizations she and Ralph supported (Memorials).

Phyllis was a compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She befriended everyone she met.

Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2025, at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home (4040 A St, Lincoln from 12 to 8 p.m., (family present 6 to 8 p.m.).

The Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Bennet Community Church (350 Monroe St, Bennet), with Visitation at 9 a.m. and Service at 10 a.m., followed by Interment at the Bennet Cemetery and Lunch at the Bennet Community Church.

Memorials to her cherished Bennet Community Church, Bennet Community Builders Association, American Legion Post 280, Bennet Area Historical Society, or Gideon's International.
