Phyllis Ann Bowman Young-Chopp, age 68, of Crestwood, KY, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Louisville, KY, to the late William Bowman and Nellie McCarty Bowman.

Phyllis dedicated 18 years of service as a deli associate at Walmart, where her hard work, humor, and friendly spirit made her beloved by coworkers and customers alike. She previously worked as a manager at McDonald's, bringing the same dedication to every role she held.

A woman of unwavering faith, Phyllis was a former member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and a current member of Beulah Land Baptist Church. She loved God deeply and lived her life with grace, strength, and kindness.

Phyllis had a vibrant personality and a heart full of love. She adored her two dogs, Toby (a Chihuahua) and Rambo (a Shih Tzu), who brought her joy and companionship. Her favorite color was red, and she was a devoted fan of the Louisville Cardinals sports teams. She enjoyed relaxing with her favorite TV shows - Days of Our Lives and Chicago Fire - and spent time playing games on her phone, often surrounded by laughter and family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert O. Young, Jr., and her second husband, Charles D. Chopp; her brothers, J.C. Bowman and Thomas Bowman; and her sisters, Charlene Simpson and Joyce Fisher.

She is survived by her loving children: Gilbert O. Young III and Melissa A. Young Pendleton (Michael). She was a devoted grandmother to: Justin Allen, Matthew Austin, William Gilbert, Christopher Alexander, and Nicholas James; and cherished her granddaughters: Destiny Renee and Laci Nicole. Her face lit up when speaking of her precious great-granddaughter, Amelia Mae, whom she absolutely adored.

She is also survived by her brothers: Ronald "Ronnie" Bowman, Patrick Bowman, and Michael Bowman; and her sister, Bonnie Terry. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her cousin and best friend, Amanda Stewart, as well as her many beloved "Walmart cousins."

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of service, at Legacy Nunnelley Chapel Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, KY 40215.

A funeral service to celebrate Phyllis's life will take place at 12:30 PM on Monday, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Phyllis will be remembered for her faith, her fierce love for her family, her laughter, her strength, and the countless lives she touched. She lived with heart - and loved without limits.
