Perrine and I were childhood friends. We always played at her house or mine and she would often let me ride her horse (I was so jealous that she had one.) We walked to Riverland Terrace Elementary together most days. We had lost touch over the years after graduation. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. My sincere condolences to her family.

I will miss Pierrine, she always had a smile no matter how bad her day was .She was a very special lady and so was her mother Mrs. Northum .They came to our salon for many ,many years.
Suzette have comfort in knowing your mother was very proud of you and loved you very much .Pierrine spoke of you often .I am so glad to have known your mother and your grandmother .Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time .

Don and I knew Perrine through the Low Country Paddlers kayaking club. We all were very active in kayaking and if there was a paddling trip planned, she'd been there.
Every river, creek, swamp, bay, lake, inlet, in the Charleston and greater Charleston area, she'd done it, and done it many times. She was also a naturalist in her own right, and she could name every bug, bird and plant we encountered.
In addition to those things, she always amazed us with her story telling ability. On many occasions sitting around a fire on a camping trip she would recite the entire poem, The Shooting of Dangerous Dan McGrew, perfectly from memory, bringing the characters to life in bright color on those nights. Sitting around a camp fire won't be the same now.
We already miss her.

We wish we had known Pierrine better over the course of her life. For the short time we knew her, we delighted in her hospitality as she spoke of the history John's Island, her temporary home here on earth, and her knowledge of birds and wildlife. In her humility, she never once mentioned her accomplishments and service to those in need. Her kindness and courage will always be remembered as one we both loved and admired.

I became friends with Pierrine and Suzette thru Lowcountry Paddlers Club. When I first started paddling, Pierrine would bake home made cookies and share with everyone on every paddle. I was so impressed with her love and kindness toward everyone with a smile and laugh that I followed her example by bringing a treat to share also. She was an example of God's command not to just like everyone but to love everyone. I was blessed to have met and share time with her and Suzette. I will always remember and think of her friendly smile and even a hug from one of God's angels. She made me a better person and I will always be thankful to her and Suzette and remember her in my prayers.

PIERRINE always smiled and made EVERYONE feel warm and welcomed! My memories if PIERRINE will picture her paddling effortlessly down the creek in her kayak and usually at the side if her adoring, loving daughter Suzzette!! She was sometimes affectionately known as the "Cookie Lady" . She was an impressive lady and one of the most generous individuals I have ever known. The Angels must be smiling and rejoining to have you join them!!! Your spirit will ALWAYS be guiding us on the water.
