Published by Legacy on Jul. 23, 2024.
Polly S. Murphy, a beloved member of the Canton community, passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Marietta, OH, on July 10, 1943, Polly touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and compassionate heart.
Polly found joy in various aspects of life, from her role as a dedicated home maker to her involvement in the First Church of the Resurrection, where she shared her beautiful voice in the choir. As an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Polly honored her heritage and displayed a true sense of patriotism.
Her love for creative expression led her to crocheting, a hobby that brought her peace and fulfillment. Polly's devotion to her craft shone through in every stitch, leaving behind cherished memories for those who were lucky enough to receive her handcrafted creations.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Dorothy Steed, husband James Murphy, siblings Carl Steed Jr., Nora Henline (Berlen), and Jim Steed (Esther). Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Michele Benson (Charles), and William Murphy (Dawn), grandson Zander Murphy, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Polly's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will join together to honor and remember her remarkable journey.
As we reflect on the life of Polly S. Murphy, may we find solace in the cherished memories she has left behind and the impact she had on all those who knew her. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. May she rest in eternal peace.
